Barista/ Front of House

Reports to: Cafe Manager

Hours: Part-time or Full-time hours including weekends

Location: East & South East Asian Community Centre Cafe 12-14 Englefield Road London N1 4LS

Start date: Looking to start mid-late November

Job Purpose

The Barista/ Front of House team member will assist with the daily operation of the community café with speciality coffee and teas, preparing beverages and providing excellent customer service. As the first point of contact at the Community Centre, the Front of House team are responsible for ensuring a warm and welcoming environment, directing visitors or responding to general queries as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service: Greet customers, take orders, and ensure a high standard of service is provided at all times.

Coffee Knowledge: Have basic coffee knowledge, comfortable with dialing in espresso and basic latte art skills.

Beverage and Food Preparation: Prepare a variety of hot and cold drinks and simple food menu, following recipes and maintaining quality standards.

Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness of the café area, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Community Engagement: Engage with cafe customers and general visitors to the centre, particularly those from East & South East Asian backgrounds

Role Specification

  • Preferably 2 yrs+ experience in a cafe/hospitality or customer service role.

  • Basic barista skills are preferred, additional training can be provided.

  • Friendly, approachable, and able to communicate effectively with a diverse community.

  • Ideally speak a language from one of the 14 ESEA countries but not essential.

This role is paid at the London Living Wage, ensuring that employees receive fair compensation that reflects the cost of living in London.
