An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join our small coffee buying team as a Green Coffee Technician, at Taylors of Harrogate.

As a Green Coffee Technician, you will cup dozens of coffee samples every day and be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy coffee tasting room and hosting visitor tastings. In addition to learning all about our supply chain from crop to cup, you will also be involved in key operational quality decisions.

The Green Coffee Technician role is based on site in our coffee tasting room at our offices in Harrogate, where we blend and manufacture our premium range of tea and coffees.

This is a 12-month fixed term position working full-time, 37.5 hours Monday – Friday.

Full training will be provided. Whilst previous roasting, cupping, barista or other coffee industry experience is an advantage, we’re really looking for someone who can demonstrate their passion for coffee and is keen to learn!

Key responsibilities include:

• Physical analysis of green coffee samples to Specialty Coffee Association protocol. • Roasting green coffee samples to specific roast profiles using Cropster software. • Recording and organising cupping, quality, and roasting data on internal systems and Cropster. • Sending sample feedback to suppliers. • Hosting visitor tastings.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will be well-organised and self-motivated with incredible attention to detail. You must be able to work comfortably both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and be highly competent at inputting, formatting and presenting data. You will also be comfortable presenting and hosting tastings for visitors.

We’re looking for someone who will be adaptable to a variety of tasks - equally as happy to cup a counter of coffees or wash up.

Our coffee buyers are renowned for scouring the globe in their search for quality coffee and for building long-standing partnerships with coffee producers. We are looking for someone with a passion for coffee who can support them in ensuring that the quality standards and specifications of our green and roasted coffee are maintained.

To apply for this role, you will be required to submit a CV and cover letter. In your cover letter, please refer to the following questions:

• Why does working at Taylors of Harrogate appeal to you? • What appeals to you about working in the coffee industry or what do you enjoy most about working in the coffee industry? • In a few words, explain why this role is ideal for you.

Please note that applications without a cover letter will not be considered.

What we offer you:

As a minimum, all our employees receive free meals, drinks and snacks while at work, a discretionary quarterly profit-share bonus, holiday allowance with the option to buy and (in some cases) sell additional days, company-wide employee discounts, access to our health cash plan, wellbeing support, company funded counselling, and enrolment in the company pension.

We also offer a range of development opportunities no matter your role and ambitions. We encourage everyone to explore what makes them the best version of themselves, and we do this through external training programmes, apprenticeships and internal 1:1 coaching schemes.
