ABOUT LAYLA

We are a neighborhood bakery in Ladbroke Grove serving sourdough, pastries and coffee. We make everything from scratch and bake it fresh each morning. We use Assembly’s House Blend coffee and Good and Proper Tea. Our drinks menu also includes house made lemonade, freshly squeezed orange juice, chai lattes, iced tea, seasonal shrub and cold brew coffee in warmer months.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This is a full time role. We are looking for an experienced and skilled barista with great attention to detail, efficiency and cleanliness. You will have at least 1 year’s experience in a high volume coffee environment, serving quality shots and steaming milk. You must be comfortable working with our La Marzocco Linea machine and Mahlkonig Grinder. Most importantly, you must be able to deliver great tasting coffee in a friendly, engaging and customer-focused manner. You will also be responsible for making and serving our full drinks menu.

The ideal candidate will be available for a start date from January 2025.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to consistently dial in Grinder

Open and close down coffee section independently

Multi-task and perform a busy service solo and with an assistant

Maintain the desired speed of service, quality of product and overall consistency

Deliver coffee to customers in an engaging and friendly manner building rapport with regular customers

Ability to pour latte art and understand all milks used at Layla

Maintain cleanliness of section at all times and in control of weekly deep clean

Build a relationship with our coffee supplier, Assembly, attending regular training sessions at their brixton roastery.

Be responsible for all stock, placing orders for coffee, milks, oranges, lemons and any new coffee equipment.

Strong communication between rest of the team

The role will at times include assisting the FOH team, clearing tables, serving customers and washing up

Technical machine troubleshooting skills are a bonus
