At the heart of our community library is our coffee shop - it has great potential and a brilliant bunch of volunteers supporting it. We have been open for a year and our Library is thriving.  We now want to further develop our coffee shop to achieve its full potential. A little more about the Library.  The Bexley Council invited community organisations to come forward to apply to run Blackfen Library and as New Generation Church, we expressed our interest.  We were very existed to be appointed to run the Library and have been open for just over a year. The library is a busy and lively community hub and we want to build on its success, continuing to provide a great library service, a creative space and coffee shop for the community of Blackfen. New Generation Church has been serving the community for over 40 years both locally and overseas; through running a Community Centre in Sidcup, kids clubs, a breakfast club, care for the elderly, youth drop-in bus, Christmas hamper giveaway, Park Pastors, community football teams, supporting a slum project in India, Kanga Wrap social enterprise and lots more. We have also consistently served the community through the award winning Lark in the Park summer event and this year we’ll be celebrating 21 years of this free summer festival. In 2013 we pioneered the opening of Bexley’s first Free School; Hope Community School, which was judged a Good School with Outstanding Behaviour and Safety in its recent Ofsted inspection. We’ve recently been awarded the Safer Bexley Mark for our safeguarding practices, and over the years we have won various awards from the Civic Outstanding Achievement Award to the Bexley Council Environmental Award. We work with the local Police, Councillors and other stakeholders to help deliver services for the whole community.   Find us on: https://twitter.com/HelloBlackfen
