This is an exciting opportunity to join the Campus Services team, which is responsible for the delivery of a range of services across campus to enhance the student, staff and visitor experience. Assistant Catering Manager – Cafes Salary is in the range £23,123 to £27,157 per annum Inclusive of London Allowance Do you have an outgoing personality and the ability to communicate with all levels of customers and staff? Are you able to provide effective management, ensuring your teams deliver high quality food and drinks whilst providing an engaging service, so that each customer feels special? Can you develop a successful programme of promotions and events to Royal Holloway students and staff? Then this is the role for you. The role will directly manage the three main coffee shops on campus; one located in the main college library, the second a very successful high street branded coffee shop which opens throughout the year and the third an independent styled coffee shop in the Hub. In addition to this there will also be duty manager shifts.   To be successful in this post you will need:

  • Ability to lead, motivate, train and develop your teams to go beyond customer expectations
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of stock and margin control within a coffee shop environment
  • Flair to create new and innovative products and promotions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in branded or independent coffee shops would be an advantage
The ideal candidate must be motivated by people, with a passion for training and supporting other members of the team. Be able to stay highly focused during intense service periods whilst maintaining attention to detail. You will be expected to lead your teams in driving the business forward and delivering the best to our customers, ensuring the highest quality service and standards. You must have excellent business acumen including P&L knowledge and experience of working to set targets. Willingness to attend and run training sessions and meetings will be required. This is a full time position, 35 hours per week for 52 weeks per year and is available immediately.
