Tony Kitous is the man credited with putting the glamour into Middle East cuisine and providing the people of the Western World the opportunity to experience real, wholesome and healthy Lebanese food in a souk-like setting.

vision2 It’s an idea that had been brewing in his mind for some time. As Tony says, “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s food that’s affordable and easy to know – healthy, light and you can enjoy it every day of the week. Comptoir Libanais means ‘Lebanese counter’ and that’s exactly what it is: somewhere you can eat casually, with no fuss. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort, style or authenticity of food just because the dining is casual.” The first Comptoir opened its doors in 2008 and has been steadily growing thanks to our regular and discerning guests who are a continual source of inspiration and ideas. 2015 saw us open the doors to our first Comptoir outside of Greater London: Manchester. It’s been a great experience and we’ve had nothing but support and encouragement from everyone in that lovely city. Untitled-3

Food & Drink

The food at Comptoir is fresh, healthy, honest and affordable. We wake up early to provide customers with unique Lebanese breakfasts to eat in or take away; offering everything from organic yoghurt topped with pomegranate and orange blossom water, porridge and -our favourite- halloumi cheese, crispy onion and tomato tortillas. Visit us for lunch and dinner as we serve our guests all types of interesting  and colourful dishes, including hot and cold mezze – perfectly sized for sharing- wraps, salads, tagines, grills and Mana’esh (Lebanese style pizzas). For dessert, nothing is more authentic than the sweet taste of baklawa – Lebanese pastries in a variety of flavours such as date filled semolina and walnut filled flaky pastry. All products can be packaged up and enjoyed on the go.

Design

When stepping into one of our restaurants, you’ll see this face, inspired by a vintage movie poster, of the amazing Arabic actress, Sirine Jamal al Dine. Sirine’s smile can be found adorning the walls, menus and takeaway packaging across all of the restaurants having become the glamorous beacon of the brand. With brilliant red and brushed-chrome industrial stools, bold-patterned turquoise tables and monochrome geometric flooring, we hope we brighten the rainiest of days. Decorative ceramic tiles are a feature of the restaurants, having been something that Tony grew up admiring at his Grandparents’ house.
